ESDS Presentation

The Economics and Social Data Services (ESDS) International will be giving a presentation on Wednesday 3 November 2010, 4-5pm in B102.

ESDS International is a specialist data service of the ESRC's Economic and Social Data Service and provides online access to the major databanks produced by international governmental organisations such as the World Bank, IMF and United Nations. It also provides access to international surveys such as the World Values Survey. Access to the service is free for staff and students of UK academic institutions. You can access ESDS via the A-Z Databases on the Library's website.

This one hour seminar provides an overview of the structure, content and research potential of the databases you can access through the service and will include a demonstration of the web interfaces used to explore, subset and download the data.

The seminar will be led by Richard Wiseman of the University of Manchester. The presentation is primarily for the MSc and PhD students working on their dissertations and thesis but is open to all.

Please feel free to come along.  If you don't know the service, it is well worth investigating.
